John Roberts is a geologist with 52 years experience in the mineral exploration and mining industries in Australia and the USA. During that time he has been involved in a number of new mine developments and re-developments. John was responsible for Homestake Gold of Australia Limited’s activities from 1977 to 1993 and served as Managing Director from 1987 following the company’s public listing.
Mr Roberts was chairman of directors of Australian Resources Limited from 1993 to 1997 and a director until early 1999. He was also chairman of directors of Ballarat Goldfields NL, an Australian, publicly listed gold exploration and development company, from mid 1997 to 2002. He also served as a director of US based Nord Pacific Ltd from 1994 to early 2004 and as chairman of that company for just over the last two years of his term as a director. Nord Pacific was involved in copper production in Australia and held an advanced gold exploration project in Papua New Guinea as well as exploration interests in Australia, Mexico and Canada. Mr Roberts was chairman of directors of Australasia Gold Limited from 2005 to May 2009; an Australian publicly listed gold exploration company based in Adelaide.
Mr Roberts is currently a councillor and president of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy Inc. He is chairman of the discipline of Geology and Geophysics Industry Liaison Committee at the University of Adelaide. He is also an ex-officio member of the SA Minerals and Petroleum Expert Group and a councillor of the South Australian Resources and Energy Sector Infrastructure Council (RESIC). He is a member of the board of the Mineral Resources and Heavy Engineering Skills Centre Inc (Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance (RESA)) in South Australia and is a member of the South Australian Government’s Resources Industry Development Board.
Mr Roberts is also chairman of directors of publicly listed Rum Jungle Uranium Ltd, a Darwin based uranium exploration company. He is also a member of Mithril’s audit committee.
Graham Ascough has 20 years of exploration experience and was Manager of Nickel and PGM Exploration for Falconbridge (Australia) Pty Ltd prior to his decision to join Mithril. He is a geophysicist by training with a strong technical background and has considerable International and Australian experience focused on evaluating and exploring base metal and nickel sulphide opportunities. Mr Ascough has had broad industry involvement ranging from playing a leading role in setting the strategic direction for significant country-wide exploration programmes, to working directly with junior explorers. He is a member of the Company’s audit committee.
Mr Ascough is currently a councillor of the South Australian Chamber of Mines. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and is a Professional Geoscientist of Ontario.
Derek Carter has over 35 years experience in exploration and mining geology and management. He held senior positions in the Shell Group of Companies and Burmine Ltd before founding Minotaur in 1993 and is currently Managing Director of Minotaur Exploration Ltd (ASX listed). He is the Chairman of Petratherm Ltd (ASX listed) and a director of Toro Energy Ltd (ASX listed). In South Australia he is a Member of the Resources Industry Development Board and the Minerals and Petroleum Experts Group, while nationally he is Chairman of the Minerals Exploration Advisory Group. Formerly, he was President and Vice President of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy, and was a board member of the Australian Gold Council. He was awarded AMEC’s Prospector of the Year Award (jointly) in 2003 and is a Centenary Medalist.
Richard Bonython was a director of Minotaur Gold Ltd for six years, Minotaur Resources Ltd for 5 years and retired as chairman of Hindmarsh Resources Ltd following the takeover of that company in early 2006. He retired as chairman of Diamin Resources NL in 1999 having been a director of that company for 15 years. He was executive director of Pioneer Property Group Ltd for over 15 years and has experience of over 41 years in the building, rural and mineral industries. He is also a director of Petratherm Ltd and Minotaur Exploration Ltd both ASX listed.
Donald Stephens is a Chartered Accountant and corporate adviser with over 20 years experience in the accounting industry, including 14 years as a partner of HLB Mann Judd Stephens, a firm of Chartered Accountants. He is an executive director of Papyrus Australia Ltd (ASX listed) and is company secretary to Minotaur Exploration Ltd, Toro Energy Ltd and Petratherm Ltd. He holds other public company secretarial positions and directorships with private companies and provides corporate advisory services to a wide range of organisations. He is also the company secretary and is a member of the Company’s audit committee.
